Psalm 121 is one of those passages we can have a hard time letting simply wash over us. We read it and think, “Yeah right…it can’t possibly be that way…have you seen my life?!” But Psalm 121 doesn’t bat an eye. It graciously reminds us that God is our keeper, keeping us in the midst of so many troubles, losses, and struggles. That’s perhaps where so many readers are thrown in the Psalm. The Psalm never claims that we will never have immense difficulties in our long walk of faith. Quite the contrary. What it promises is that the Lord will keep us in the midst of them, and will protect us from every evil..every internal trial in the in the midst of every external temptation.
