The Joy that Springs from Relief

Luke’s version of Jesus’ birth is surprising in it’s brevity…just 7 verses in the midst of the 2 chapters surrounding it! The birth of Jesus (and his brother John) means that God is finally keeping his long awaited promise to Abraham to bless his people and to make them a blessing to the rest of the world. Its in the midst of God beginning to keep this promise that everyone experiences joy that springs from relief. Isn’t that what we feel when a baby is born? Joy. Relief.
