Christianity is the only religion that has such a nuanced view of the world. On the one hand, the Bible says, “God so loved the world…” (John 3:16), and on the other, “Do not love the world” (1 John 2:15). How do we reconcile the differences in these passages? This week we explore how the world is both beloved and broken. More to the point – how we are called to be “in the world but not of the world” as Augustine famously noted, and why we are not to love the broken power structures that strategically feed our desire to live and try to flourish apart from God.
